This was a fantastic night and one of the best Awards Nights the Club has held. Special thanks to TAFE staff including Tu, Janice and Alison who worked closely with Turk and Sandro beforehand so things ran smoothly on the night.
The idea of serving drinks and nibbles before sitting at the tables worked very well. In previous years, guests waited a long time at their tables before any food or drinks arrived. This came about because of Turk’s diplomatic negotiations with TAFE staff well before the event. Well done Turk!. Thanks also to Jenny and David Byatt for taking the photos used in this bulletin.
Vice President, Kevin Coote represented Pres Dawn and did a fine job in being MC for the night. CEO of TAFE South West Pieter van AAalen gave us a run down on where TAFE Bunbury fits in with other TAFE centres in the South West and the Wheatbelt. TAFE”s aim is to work closely with the industries where students are likely to work after graduation. Instructors and lecturers are people who are up to date with the latest skills and knowledge in their field, ensuring graduates are “job ready” when they complete their studies.
The Awards were made while people attending were tucking in to the delicious food that students in the Hospitality course had prepared. There was much ground to cover with four awards presented and the aim was to finish the evening by 9pm.
Four Awards were presented on the night with a Rotarian or a person involved with the Award talking about the history of the Award and why the Awardee(s) was/were selected for the 2018 Awards. Following the presentation of the award, the awardee(s) were invited to say a few words.
